CHEMICAL PEELS

ABOUT

There are three different category strengths. Only a Dr in a surgical environment can administer a deep phenol peel. The mild and moderate strengths are used safely in skilled hands. They mostly fall under the alpha and beta hydroxy umbrella. These peels are various fruit acids and have wonderful clarifying effects on the skin. My chosen brands are favoured by dermatologists around the world.

I use a mild to medium strength peeling, a selections of Glycolic, Mandelic and Citric acids. These are great for skin clarity on most types of skin.

I also use Jessners peels. This is a compound of lactic, salicylic acids and a little resorcinol. I like this peel on thick, oily acne type skins and acne scaring. This peel is very safe but does have more reaction and skin shedding than the fruit acids. 

THE PROCEDURE  

Certain peels need pre prep time which you will do with mild fruit acid cleansers and creams at home. I then clean your skin and apply pre prep lotions. A fine layer of peel is applied and sometimes more than one layer is used it could be a mix of acids. Peels remain on a very short space of time this does get longer as you do more and your skin learns to tolerate them. The peel is neutralised several times.

  • Genosys - light lactic acid peelings I combine these with needling and lifting treatments.
